As the school year comes to a close, it’s easy for you and your child to feel those same butterflies you felt on the first day of school, especially for younger children who thrive off of routine.
No need to stress! We have put together a list of advice for the last day of school to successfully help both you and your child transition on the last day of school.
Hello Summer!
End-of-year school activities can pile up quickly, and it’s enough to make a parent crazy. Be sure to stay up to date with your school’s calendar! You can find our Plano TX school calendar here. Transition into summer while keeping your family focused throughout the end-of-year chaos.
Now is not the time to let the structure fall away. In our first day of school post, we talked about the importance of establishing routines for bedtime and daytime. Advice for the last day of school is to stick with it through the last day of school. It will benefit your child greatly. It is ok to make adjustments during the summer, of course!
Ease any anxiety
If your child is making a significant grade transition next year (starting kindergarten!), one piece of advice for the last day of school is to talk to the teacher about ways to prep over the summer. This may include going to school over the summer or joining a reading program at the local library.

Coordinate your child’s summer reading list and set a schedule to keep him/her focused and learning throughout the summer.
