What Are The Different Types Of Daycare?
When you are looking for a place to watch your child while you go to work, school, or anything else, it’s important to choose a daycare that meets all your child’s needs physically, emotionally, and academically.
The time between birth and age 5 are extremely crucial development years and you want to embrace and encourage the proper levels of learning and growth at each stage of your child’s life.
This is where you learn that not all daycares are the same. There are places that just watch your child and make sure they are fed and kept safe, but then there are places, like TLC Schools, which integrate a learning environment even at the youngest levels.
We offer different types of daycare (we prefer to call it childcare) here at TLC Schools that meet the needs of every child from birth to age 5!
Infant Childcare (6 weeks to 12 months)
Every second your child is experiencing a new smell, touch, sound, or sight for the first time. They are trying to understand the world around them and as experienced caregivers, we want to help them learn, but not become overstimulated. Overstimulation leads to confusion, anxiety, and meltdowns, so we create a calm, soothing environment in our infant childcare room that allows for one-on-one time and group play in order to meet the needs of your curious infant.
We also introduce learning and developmental activities like color recognition, baby sign language, language development, promotion of self-awareness, and hands-on play!
Toddler Childcare (12 months – 24 months)
Our toddlers are the adventurous ones and we love their curiosity for exploring! They want to jump over, climb on, and roll under everything along with asking questions to help expand their knowledge of the world around them.
Our toddler curriculum is based around their natural desire to learn and explore so we place emphasis on developing their minds through play, hands-on activities, music, and more!
Preschool (2 & 3 year olds)
If you’re a parent you know that 2 and 3 year old children are vastly different! As experienced and certified teachers, we understand this and actually have separate classrooms for 2 year olds and 3 year olds. Splitting the classrooms also helps us keep a low student-to-teacher ratio which has been proven to help children learn better and create a more trusting relationship with their teacher.
The curriculum for our preschool classes are about preparing them for their future education and creating a solid foundation on which they can build upon. They will learn computer skills, language, counting and numbers, music, and even continue increasing their sign language skills!
Our 3 year olds will also begin learning to write and recognize words and numbers. This is a crucial age where everything begins to “stick” so encouragement of the foundational educational skills is vital!
Pre Kindergarten
It’s almost time for elementary school for your little one, so preparing them for kindergarten is more important than ever! Being able to easily transition from childcare to classroom is extremely helpful to their development. They won’t be as fearful, or anxious and they will understand what is expected of them throughout the day!
Our pre-kindergarten classroom is the equivalent of a 4-year-old kindergarten classroom and focuses on building a strong foundation of school readiness.
They will learn how to follow instructions, listen and develop their reading, writing and math skills even more. Of course there is always an element of play and exploration in our classrooms so your child will learn through group play, music and hands-on activities!
