4 Important Questions To Ask Your Preschool Teacher

4 Important Questions To Ask Your Preschool Teacher

Is it time for your child to start preschool? Are they getting close to the age where preschool is in the near future?

Many studies have shown that preschool and early childhood education is extremely beneficial and important for a child’s future!

It has been proven that children who are involved in early childhood education programs are:

  • Less likely to repeat a grade
  • More likely to graduate high school
  • More likely to make money in their jobs
  • More likely to have an easier time during later school years

They are also better readers, have a higher level of self-esteem, are able to manage their emotions better and have better social skills!

So if it’s time to start thinking about preschool it’s time to start thinking about the important questions to ask your preschool teacher!

Don’t know where to start? We’ve got our top 5 important questions to ask your preschool teacher below!

Curriculum

Question: What Is The Curriculum For My Child’s Specific Classroom?

The first step of a successful preschool program is the curriculum. The curriculum sets the tone and pace for the education your child will receive.

When you go tour your prospective preschool ask what kind of curriculum they follow and how they tailor it to meet the needs of their students!

For example, here at TLC Schools, we tailor each classroom curriculum based on the ages of our students. We recognize that there is a big difference between the learning capabilities of 2 and 3-year-olds which is why we have separate classrooms.

We utilize a world-renowned phonics program, art, music, computers, dramatic play, high-reach learning, sign language, and more to teach our students!

Teacher To Student Ratio

Question: What Is The Student To Teacher Ratio?

In a previous article, we went in-depth on the importance of a low student-to-teacher ratio and it’s worth mentioning here again.

The teachers are the heart of the school and being able to interact with students is a key to their successful retention of the curriculum. A low student-to-teacher ratio provides a less chaotic atmosphere, more focus on each student individually, and a better awareness of safety.

Food

Question: What meals are provided, if any?

If your child is going to an all-day program, food is going to come into play.  Children have rapidly growing bodies and the food they eat is crucial to their development.

Are you, the parent, going to be responsible for the food they bring each day along with snacks? Or are meals provided?

Here at TLC Schools, we provide nutritious, healthy, and delicious breakfast and lunchtime meals along with AM/PM snacks!

We believe that wholesome food is an essential part of learning and a nourished body leads to a focused mind!

Safety

Question: How do you protect our children?

Safety is obviously an important piece of the puzzle. How your child is protected from any type of issue or danger, gives your peace of mind that while you’re away, they are okay.

Here at TLC, we don’t just let anyone pick up your child from class or allow strangers to visit our campus. We have safety protocols in place for every situation no matter how minor.

We have sign-in and out rules, cameras in public areas, building key code access, and front desk, and classroom check-ins.

To further enhance the safety and security of our students we require parents to use personal identification numbers to gain access to the building.
